Appearance: Zexion is the shortest male in Organization XIII, looking more like a teenager than an adult. However, his actions prove otherwise. His heart-shaped face is partially covered by his short bluish-gray hair, which lies on top of his right eye, giving him an air of mystery. His eyes are colored a dark blue. Like the other Organization members, he wears a long black coat, which he zips up halfway, revealing his silver-lined boots.

Personality: Zexion is a Nobody, which means that he cannot experience true feelings; because of this, he acts rather cold and aloof most of the time. However, he acts very politely to his other colleagues in the Organization, even ensuring that each of them greet each other properly when they see each other. Since he was a scientist before he lost his heart, he still retains that instinct to observe and analyze, even using these skills in battle. Unlike the other members, Zexion tends to take an “in the background” approach when formulating a plan; he uses other people to do his dirty work. However, when this tactic fails, he will step up himself to finish the job. However, the strategy of using other people led to his downfall; he trusted Axel too much, not even seeing the plans that the red-headed Nobody was using against him. Knowledgeable and intelligent, Zexion expects people to look up to him, despite their ranks. He actually “fears” death, although he would just turn into nothingness if he was killed. (This is shown by Zexion’s reaction to Axel’s revelation that he will kill him using the Riku Replica.)

Abilities: In the Organization, Zexion probably has the widest variety of abilities. Like the other Nobodies, he can open portals to dark corridors and teleport from place to place. These two abilities in New York, however, will be virtually nil. He also has the strange power of smelling and differentiating the scent of other people from very long distances; in New York, he will only be able to distinguish the scents of people when they’re very close by, around eight feet away. He can also summon a weapon, a lexicon, which he uses with his power over illusion to deal damage or trick enemies; in New York, he won’t be able to summon his lexicon, and his power over illusion will be weakened. For example, in his universe, he could summon a wide variety of illusions, even disguising himself as an ally of his opponent. In New York, he will only be able to sustain his illusions for a short time. The bigger the illusion, the shorter amount of time it will take to uphold it. (For example, if he makes a small illusion to get away from an enemy, it will drain his energy less than if he went around disguised as Sora.) If he sustains an illusion too long, his energy will drain away quickly and he will faint after a while.

Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider
History: Ienzo was one of the six apprentices that served under a famous researcher, Ansem the Wise, studying the mysteries of the heart. Under the leadership of Xehanort, another apprentice, Ienzo implored Ansem the Wise to build a laboratory for further research. Ansem agreed, but had absolutely no clue that the apprentices were carrying out cruel experiments on the strange creatures called Heartless behind his back in that laboratory.
Sooner or later, Ansem found out about the experiments and confronted his apprentices. In retaliation, Xehanort cast him into a world of nothingness and continued the experiments with the other apprentices.
No one knows what happened exactly, but the six apprentices lost their hearts, leaving behind the hollow bodies known as Nobodies. Zexion was the Nobody of Ienzo. The six Nobodies of the apprentices formed a group called Organization XIII, determined to get their hearts back and become whole once again.
The Organization grew to include seven more members, and along the way, Castle Oblivion was found. Zexion was sent along with Lexaeus and Vexen to research on the lowest floor of the Castle, while Axel, Marluxia, and Larxene were sent to the highest floor.
Sora the Keybearer entered Castle Oblivion after defeating Ansem, Xehanort’s Heartless. Marluxia, Larxene, and Axel started a conspiracy to use Sora to take over the Organization, drawing the attention of the members on the lowest floor. When Vexen tried to prevent Sora from becoming Marluxia’s pawn, he was killed by Axel before he could reveal anything.
Zexion then came up with a plan with Lexaeus; they could take control of Riku, the other Keybearer, and take down Marluxia. However, Riku quickly overpowered Lexaeus and killed him, leaving only Zexion to do the job.
However, Marluxia and Larxene were soon killed by Sora, and Axel met with Zexion, suggesting that he should eliminate Riku. Zexion agreed, and faced Riku, tricking him with his illusions, even to the point where he disguised himself as Sora to finish the deed. However, with Naminé’s help, Riku surprised Zexion by defeating him.
Zexion escaped to the lowest floor of the castle, wounded. There, he was surprised by Axel and the Riku Replica. Axel ordered the Riku Replica to kill Zexion, saying that Zexion knew “way too much”.
However, before the Riku Replica draining all of Zexion’s energy, he blacked out, waking up in New York.
